Alex J. Vanni, MD, FACS is a board-certified reconstructive urologic surgeon at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts. He completed his urology residency at Lahey Clinic and his fellowship in Trauma and Reconstructive Urologic Surgery at the University of Washington. Dr. Vanni holds academic appointments as Professor of Surgery at UMass Chan Medical School (UMass Chan-Lahey) and Adjunct Professor of Urology at Tufts University School of Medicine. He is Past President of the Trauma and Urologic Reconstructive Network of Surgeons (TURNS), a multi-institutional research consortium that produces much of the contemporary evidence base for reconstructive urologic surgery.
Dr. Vanni has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and invited reviews. His work has appeared in The Journal of Urology, Urology, BJU International, The Journal of Sexual Medicine, European Urology, and other leading urologic journals. He is a frequent invited speaker at the American Urological Association (AUA) and Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons (GURS) Annual Meetings.
